LEXINGTON & CONCORD, BATTLES

The stories behind the 1775 battles of Lexington and Concord in the Revolutionary War are fascinating when looked at carefully. In this issue of COBBLESTONE, we attempt to uncover the story of these famous American battles that changed the course of American history. There is one article that describes the role of the militia and minuteman, and another that explores the role of intelligence (spies!) in the weeks before the battles. Articles are devoted to the events of the day at Lexington, then at Concord, and a finally along the road from Concord as the British made their way back to Boston. There also is an article on the famous 19th-century literary men and women with ties to these famous battles and there is a map to help it all make sense.
