BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT
How does our federal government work? Who makes the rules? In this issue, we look at the three arms of our federal government: the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. A couple of articles in this issue will give you some background information. One defines the responsibilities of the three branches. Another provides some information about what our Founding Fathers were thinking in 1787 when they laid the groundwork for our new country's government. Then, there are several articles that try to provide famous examples of how the branches balanced or checked each other. There also is a look at the path that a bill takes as it makes its way to become a law, and how the different branches are involved in that process.
