MEXICAN AMERICANS

Mexican Americans have one of the richest and longest non-native histories in the United States. In this issue, we look at this group of Americans and their contributions, beginning with the first Mexican Americans -- who became citizens when international borders shifted, not them. We meet Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, two people who devoted their lives to improving others' lives. There is an article on Mexican food, and you'll be amazed to see the English words that have Spanish roots. You can read about Mexican folk art and celebrations, and we've also included an activity to make your own cascaron.
