KOREAN WAR
Created in partnership with the Department of the Army, this 52-page, full-color booklet tells young readers about the history of this little-known but important war. Historic photos from the National Archives and well-researched colorful illustrations combine to complement the articles. This special issue is designed to commemorate the men and women who served in the war. It includes: articles describing the years and events that immediately preceeded the war and the events of the Korean War itself, a map of Korea and a world map highlighting the many nations that participated in this international war, a picture essay of the world leaders who played key roles in the war, a crossword puzzle and code breaking puzzle to challenge students' comprehensive knowledge of the issue, various articles that focus on history-making elements of the war - including humanitarian relief efforts, the role of women, and the integration of the armed forces, suggested Web sites and books to read to learn more about the Korean War.
