GERMANY, UNIFIED
German reunification in 1990 brought together people who shared a common language, culture, and history, but who had been separated for 40 years. During that time, East and West Germans developed different political, economic, and social identities. Today, residents and politicians are dealing with complications that have grown out of trying to merge two countries into one. This issue of FACES will deal with the events that led up to the reunification of Germany and how life has changed for its people since the early 1990s.
