ICELAND

Iceland is called the land of fire of ice. Fiery hot lava flows from the many active volcanoes found on Iceland and glaciers cover about 11 percent of the land. Irish monks first settled Iceland sometime in the 6th or 7th century A.D. Eventually people from the Scandinavian countries, especially Norway, moved to the land. Today the population stands at 270,000. In this issue of FACES, meet two Icelandic teens - one rural and one urban. Learn about their hobbies and school days.
