SIKHS
The colorful turbans and uncut beards of Sikh men make them one of the most visible religious groups in South Asia. Worldwide, there are about 20 million Sikhs. About 90 percent of them live in the Indian state of Punjab. Members of the Sikh faith are followers of Guru Nanak (1469 - 1539), who believed in one God. Learn about the origins of this faith, its early leaders, the status of its women, and how it is practiced today.
