The modern state of Israel was created in 1948 as a homeland for Jewish people. Jews from around the world have moved to Israel creating a diverse country, which also has a large Arab population. The mix of these two peoples has often resulted in conflict, which is still unresolved today. The goal of this issue is not to explain this conflict or take sides.
