Greek Heroes: Theseus
Author: Geraldine McCaughrean
The sorceress Medea promised King Aegeus that the first woman he embraces will bear him a son. Traveling home to Athens, Aegeus catches a falling serving girl - and his son, Theseus, is conceived. Years later, after learning of his paternity, Theseus journeys to Athens to claim his right as heir to the throne. Along the way, Theseus battles monstrous creatures, his pride swelling with every victory. When he kills the sea god Poseidon's giant bull, Athens must send a grisly tribute to the Minotaur, son of Poseidon's bull and a mortal woman. Theseus battles the bloodthirsty Minotaur and braves the deadly Labyrinth, but his real struggle is to understand the timeless concepts of trust and true love.
