SCIENCE OR HOAX
In the last few years, people have become increasingly interested in the paranormal. Television capitalizes on our desire to believe in the strange - everything from alien autopsies, to ESP, to psychic predictions. Through the centuries the hoaxer has also been noticed, sometimes even becoming a virtual hero (i.e. the Piltdown forgery in which an ape jaw was fit to a human skull to create a new caveman species). In this issue we'll look at famous hoaxes from the past, and explore how logic and skepticism separate science from fraud in the present.
