COLONIAL PHILDELPHIA

Colonial Philadelphia was the second most important English-speaking city in the world in the first half of the 1700s. In this issue, we look at this important colonial city and the people - from William Penn, to Native Americans, to African Americans, to women, to famous citizens - who played a role in settling and transforming a small colony into a remarkable city. Of course, you can read about Benjamin Franklin and his many contributions, and we've also included a simple way for you to test his "electric" theory at home. And in case you can't actually get to the "City of Brotherly Love," you can enjoy the photo essay that highlights some of the most famous colonial places to visit.
