Twain's World
Most people think of Mark Twain as a great American writer. That's true, but he was so much more. In fact, during his lifetime, he probably was the most famous American. World leaders wanted to meet him. People all over the world were eager to hear his lectures and read his books and articles. In the May issue, we explore how Twain's close observation of the world around him made him a successful riverboat pilot, news reporter, lecturer, and author (we've got in-depth articles on how Twain pursued each of these professions). We'll also take a peek at his family life and enjoy a tour of his home in Hartford, Connecticut, which is open to the public as a museum. We've included steps to make your own scrapbook - an activity that Twain himself enjoyed, and we're looking for readers to try out our storytelling contest. Meet Mark Twain and see why he is considered an American classic.
