From Our Readers...A Selection of Great Poems!

FACES recently received some great poems from our readers. Mrs. Larsen's class at Lawton Elementary School in Michigan wrote about the moon:

The moon travels to Chicago
In search of crystals.
The clouds are smeared with blackness.
The wind is moving rapidly
And the stars twinkle like crystals in the night sky.
The moon still travels bringing a baby with her.

By Kristen C.

The moon travels in search of a door in the clouds so   people can see her.
The clouds are moving fast
While the wind is moving at a slow jog.
The night is colored in dark blue.
The stars are twinkling like little lights.
And the moon still travels bringing her out into the sky
Because she found the door.

By Mya H.

The moon moves over the grape field
In search of jewels at the castle.
Clouds are crossing over the ocean
While the wind is growing and people are getting colder.
The night colors herself in a rainbow bright sky blue.
The stars are shimmering outside over the night.
And the moon still travels bringing her baby cat named pumpkin.

 By Lauren S.

The moon travels through the stormy night
In search of listening rocks before the sun comes up in Spain.
The clouds are hiding from the world.
While the wind howls in the distance.
The night sky colors itself blue in the starlit sky.
The stars are bright and make the water glisten.
And the moon still travels bringing her North Star.

 By Meredith

The moon searches all around the world
 Looking for world peace
While the wind blows everything away.
The clouds are like cotton candy.
The stars are little meteors that are on fire.
And the moon still travels bringing her small meteors of fire.

 By Mallory

The moon travels through the dark midnight sky
 Searching for a kid.
The spooky clouds travel with weird sounds
While the wind whooshes and crashes on the rocks.
The night colors herself in deep ocean blue with shining gold.
The stars are twinkling like the sun beams.
And the moon still travels bringing her beautiful stars.

 By Brandon L.

The moon travels around the shadowy dark world
Trying to find a different city to shine on.
Clouds are whispering in my head
While the wind sways my body.
The night colors herself in twinkling blue and black.
The stars are twinkling inside my ear.
And the moon still travels to shine on cities bringing her pearls.

 By Haley B.

And Justin, of Celina, OH, wrote this poem after his class visited a local greenhouse and chose plants to write about:

 LEAVES
The white frost-colored leaves
Wave to me
From outside my window
They are my friends
Companions separated
By a sheet of glass.

By Justin P.

Thanks for all these great poems!
