Here are more of the great entries we received for APPLESEEDS' Name the Parakeet Contest! Thanks to everyone who sent us their ideas!
Dear Apple Corp Kids, I think that the parakeet's name should be Parakiki. The parakeet's name starts with the beginning of parakeet. Then I thought that Kiki was a great name. I added them together and then bingo! Parakiki was born. Do you like the sound of it? Is it a great name? Your Pal,
Angela L., 7, St. Louis, MO.
The Applecorps kids are very lucky to have such a sweet little parakeet and I think she should have a name that shows proper respect. Therefore, I think that her name should be one of the following: Fritter, Sweety Chris, Polly, or Cutey. I hope that you like these name and choose one from them. Thanks for reading this.
Sincerely,
Sharadin R., 9, Boise, Idaho
Dear Appleseeds,
I decided to enter this contest because I knew a perfect name- Perky! It's good for either a boy or a girl. This parakeet lives up to the name. He's always bright and funny. I think he should have that name.
Your Appleseeds fan,
Mariana K., 7, Huntington, NY
Dear Appleseeds,
I am writing to you about a good name for your parakeet. I researched parakeets and found that the parakeet is a budgerigar. Therefore, I think that I good name for the parakeet would be Budgie. Budgie is a good name for either a boy or a girl, so you wouldn't have to worry about it. If that doesn't fit, you could use Johnny, because Johnny Appleseed and Appleseeds fits together. If you decide that the parakeet is a girl, you could also use Jonita. I hope I picked a good name for the parakeet.
Sincerely,
Rebecca E., 10, Shorewood, WI
Dear Appleseeds,
I have two ideas. One is Green Apple. I think this is good because he is green and he is in Appleseeds. Two is Crab Apple. Sometimes he's crabby and he is in Appleseeds. I hope you like them.
Love,
Sophie E., 7, Albuquerque, NM
I think the parakeet should be named Meadow because it is green and yellow.
Karis G., Oregon, OH
Dear Name that Bird! Contest,
I think that the parakeet should be called Buddy he's one of the Applecorps Kid's best friends.
Sincerely Yours,
Leo A., 8, New York, NY
Dear Appleseeds,
I am writing about the new contest because I know the perfect name for the parakeet. Zeus for the god of the skies in the Greek myths. (Even though in my opinion a bird should have been god of the skies.) Well, good bye Parakeet. Hope you find a name that you like.
Your #1 fan,
Emmaline H., Eagle, ID
Dear Appleseeds Name that Bird Contest,
I think that Greenfeather is a perfect name for the parakeet. And I'd like to tell you that I think it is a boy parakeet. Greenfeather is a good name because it sounds pretty green to match his feathers.
Sincerely,
Sean C., 4, Underwood, WA
Dear Appleseeds,
This is my idea for the Name that Bird Contest. I think he should be named Helios. This is because he has a yellow head. And because he flies in the air with the sun.
Truly Yours,
Phoebe R., 8, El Paso, TX
Dear Appleseeds,
I think the name for this bird should be Cello (like the instrument). I figured it would be a good name for a boy or a girl. So everyone would be happy. If want more of a girly name go with Kiva, Chartreuse, or something like that. And for more boyish names Max, Lucas, or Coby.
Well I hoped I helped,
Luna J., Matthews, NC
Hi! I'm Nyah and I am nine. I would like to name the bird Natalie and here is why. N is for nice. A is for active. T is for terrific. A is for awesome. L is for lucky. I is for imaginative. E is for elegant.
